Dr. Andrea Doyle performs breast implant revision surgery at her Rhode Island plastic surgery practice. This breast surgery is designed for women who have undergone breast augmentation and need or want to have their existing implants removed or replaced.
Who is breast implant revision for?
Breast implant revision surgery is performed for one of two primary reasons:
- A woman needs to have one or both of her implants removed/replaced due to complications
- A woman wants to remove/replace her implants for personal reasons, such as a change in size, material, shape, etc
Breast implants are not meant to last forever and may need to be removed or replaced at some point or another. If you experience complications with your breast implants, such as a rupture, leak, or capsular contracture, it is important that you have the affected implant removed and replaced as soon as possible.
Many women also choose to undergo breast implant revision surgery simply to revise a previous breast augmentation. As you continue to age, your body will change and you may want to revise a previous breast surgery to better match your figure. Dr. Doyle will work closely with you to choose your new breast implants and will offer recommendations of filler material, size, and shape based on your own personal goals.
The breast implant exchange procedure
Dr. Doyle is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is known for providing women with natural looking results through cosmetic breast enhancement.
This particular surgery is performed in a fairly similar way to your breast augmentation. Dr. Doyle will likely use the same incisions from your augmentation to minimize any new scarring. From here, your existing implant or implants can be removed, and Dr. Doyle will be able to diagnose any problems that may have occurred with the implant. If you have experienced capsular contracture, Dr. Doyle will be able to remove scar tissue that has built up around the implant.
If you are choosing to replace your implants, Dr. Doyle will insert your new implants into the breasts. Your incisions are then closed and any necessary dressings will be placed.
Breast implant revision recovery and results
Your implant revision recovery will be fairly similar to that of your augmentation. Each patient will experience a slightly different healing process, but should notice the results of their procedure immediately. As bruising and swelling continue to fade, you will notice a natural looking enhancement of your breasts.
